NYPD Hispanic Society Endorses Bloomberg The NYPD Hispanic Society Oct. 11 endorsed Mayor Bloomberg for reelection, citing his record on crime reduction. “Today, under the leadership of Mayor Bloomberg our city streets are safer, crime is down and we have seen successes in education and a boost in tourism after 9/11,” said Jeffrey Stella, president of the NYPDHS. “Mayor Bloomberg has made a difference in the lives of everyday citizens of this great city and that’s why we, the NYPD Hispanic Society, are endorsing him for re-election.” Mr. Bloomberg said, “The men and women of the NYPD continue to dramatically improve the safety of our streets. Crime is at an over-40-year low in the city and this is a testament to the vigilance and hard work of all of our Police Officers. I am grateful to all the members of the NYPD Hispanic Society for their support and all they do to keep us safe every day.” He previously received the endorse- ment of four of the five NYPD unions, with the exception of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, against City Comptroller William C. Thompson in the Nov. 3 general election. Mr. Thompson has received endorsements from the Uniformed Firefighters Association, District Council 37, Transport Workers Union Local 100 and the Correction Officers Benevolent Association. T.H. |
