THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. Labor Silent on TWU Pact To the Editor:As a member in good standing of Transport Workers Union Local 100, I must say that I am surprised and shocked at the absolute lack of public response concerning the MTA’s attempt to have a court overturn the recent arbitrator’s award of our contract. If by some chance it should be successful, the concept of binding arbitration would become meaningless —and not just for Local 100. No matter what anyone might think of my local or my union, it amazes me that organized labor throughout the entire country isn’t reacting to a threat that could easily be more than just “potential.” FREDERICK ARGOFF |
