Teamsters Council Backs Mayor, But Not '237' Leader

Mayor Bloomberg was endorsed for re-election June 18 by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Joint Council 16.

Teamsters Local 237 President Gregory Floyd, a member of the Joint Council, said he had not been involved in the choice and that his union had not decided on its candidate.

"Mayor Bloomberg has made a commitment to keep New York City moving forward," said Council 16 President George Miranda in a statement. "His plan to keep building and growing New York, while creating or saving hundreds of thousands of good jobs, has earned him the enthusiastic support of the Teamsters. Our unions look forward to doing everything we can, from knocking on doors to job site visits, to make sure that our Mayor— Mike Bloomberg—wins re-election."
