CSA Backs Snyder for Dist. Att'y
The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators has endorsed Leslie Crocker Snyder in the race for Manhattan District Attorney. CSA President Ernest Logan said in a statement that Ms. Crocker Snyder would be "a District Attorney who understands the importance of working with parents, educators and social workers to break tragic cycles of criminal behavior that propel some children from classrooms to courtrooms." 'She'll Make It Happen' "[She] not only acknowledges the need for this kind of collaboration, she is wholeheartedly dedicated to making it happen," Mr. Logan continued. Ms. Crocker Snyder won the endorsement after a meeting with CSA's Manhattan members last month. The former State Supreme Court Justice has a history of working with public schools, "adopting" one for 10 years to provide students with an introduction to the legal process. She also shares the CSA's support of the renewal of mayoral control and the enrichment of early childhood education. The Manhattan District Attorney race is one of the most competitive citywide races, with Ms. Crocker Snyder receiving the endorsements of several uniformed unions, Richard Aborn having the support of many elected officials and the Working Families Party, and Cyrus A. Vance Jr. the favorite of departing Manhattan DA Richard M. Morgenthau, as well as Teamsters Local 237. Other candidates endorsed by the CSA executive board included Ruben Diaz Jr. for Bronx Borough President and Charles J. Hynes for re-election as Brooklyn District Attorney. |
