To The Editor: This letter is in response to Gary Bono's fictitious portrayal (June 12 letter) of the conversation that took place between Ed Watt and me in front of TWU Local 100 members at the Canal St. lighting quarters. One of the questions I have been asked many times has to do with finding out the facts about the sale of our union's building. More ... To The Editor: In response to Gary Bono's letter in the June 12 issue, "TWU Building Sale a Boon," the members now realize why this administration must go. Bono is on release time running for office and still trying to explain how great it is for TWU Local 100 to pay rent rather than own the union hall. More ... To The Editor: It is not surprising to me that FDNY Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano (June 5 letter), would deliberately try to misrepresent what I said to The Chief-Leader. My comments were clearly directed at Chief Cassano and his politically appointed Staff Chiefs. More ... To The Editor: I read and re-read Dominick DeRubbio's May 22 letter, "Setting Up City for Disaster"; it was a detailed and passionate plea. I believe he did his research with diligence and a caring attitude, and he is correct that "the city isn't fooling anyone" and that "Firehouse closings coupled with increased response times is a recipe for disaster. To The Editor: It has become very clear to the entire membership of Teamsters Local 237 that the appointed leadership of this great union still doesn't get what this election means to the membership. More ... To The Editor: I read with amazement a story that appeared in your May 26 issue regarding Local 237's appointed president, Greg Floyd. A labor leader's first responsibility and obligation is to protect and defend members. But a labor leader is something that Greg Floyd has never been. More ... |
