Train Plan: L of a Waste
      To The Editor: The now fully automated trains on the L line are a costly distraction and a waste of money. The $326 million spent on automating the L trains will be more than the salaries of the Conductors and other transit employees whom the MTA plans to replace for many years into the future.

Cops Were Mob Parasites
      To The Editor: It's about time that the "Mafia Cops," Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa, began serving their life terms in prison with no realistic chance for parole. They sold their police shields to one of the worst mob killers in history, "Gaspipe" Casso. Even the horrific crimes of Bernie Madoff pale by comparison to the evil done by these two mob parasites.

In Fires, Time of Essence
      To The Editor: I am sorry the Sears family lost their son, husband and father, but to blame the Fire Academy and the timed drills (Feb. 27 article) is misguided, at best. Firefighting is an arduous job. You can't get to the scene of the fire and start extinguishing it fast enough.

Guild Legal Hypocrisy
      To The Editor: I am writing in response to the March 6, 2009 article, "Tech Guild Board Still At War Over Attorney Fees; Lawyer Fired." At the Local 375 (Civil Service Technical Guild) February 2009 delegate meeting, local President Claude Fort put forth a case as to why the local's contracted attorney should be removed.
