To The Editor: I just read the article that Sherita Sears, the widow of Probationary Firefighter Jamel Sears, who collapsed and died while training at the Fire Academy, is suing the city for wrongful death in the amount of $10 million. If that wasn't bad enough, the basis of the claim stems from a racism accusation. More ... I was told that I would be appointed in place even though my agency has more than 50 provisionals in that title.
