Battalion Chief McDonnell, who was first elected to the UFOA executive board in 1996, became the union's leader for the second time in June 2007 after then-President Peter L. Gorman left to become the chief of staff for the International Association of Fire Fighters in Washington, D.C.
Capt. Al Hagan replaced Capt. Michael Currid, who retired, on the board as a Captains' Representative.
Also re-elected to one-year terms were Vice President James McGowan, Treasurer Edward Boles, Recording Secretary Patrick Reynolds, Financial Secretary John Dunne, Sergeant-at-Arms Richard Alles, Lieutenants' Representative Stephen Carbone and Chiefs' Representative George Belnavis.
