MEA to Honor Mayor While Marking Its 40th Anniversary
The Managerial Employees Association will pay tribute to the man who manages most of its members when it presents Mayor Bloomberg with its Distinguished Service Award during the organization's 40th anniversary dinner Oct. 23.

"The theme of the evening will be: managers and the City of New York — partners in excellence," MEA President Steve Ferrer said in a statement.

The MEA acts as an advocate for managers in city agencies as well as "covered" agencies such as the Health and Hospitals Corporation, although it is prohibited from negotiating on their behalf. It also offers legal representation and financial planning and pension consulting services.

Among others it will honor is one of the group's founders, Tom Diana, who noted last week that the MEA's first counsel was the late publisher of this newspaper, Frank J. Prial II.

The event will be held at the Grand Prospect Hall at 263 Prospect Ave. in Brooklyn. For information on tickets, contact Marie Cairoli at (212) 964-0035.
