The Labor Day Parade held Sept. 6 by the AFL-CIO New York City Central Labor Council produced a mix of ordinary workers, the state's top elected officials, and, as its grand marshals, members of the Wounded Warriors Project who are veterans of the military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. William Wilkinson, above, a firefighter who was wounded overseas, was among the marchers that also included sizable delegations from the city's two largest municipal employee unions, District Council 37 and the United Federation of Teachers. The elected officials who took part included, below from left, State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Governor Paterson, Mayor Bloomberg, and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, who is marching just ahead of Central Labor Council Executive Director Ed Ott.
