The Fire Department awarded seven scholarships to department members Aug. 14 in honor of fallen Firefighter Thomas Brick, which are funded by Salvatore Bommarito and his family. Mr. Brick was killed while fighting a fire at a mattress warehouse in upper Manhattan in 2003.
