15 Lieuts., 10 Capts. Among 34 Promoted By Fire Department
The Fire Department promoted 34 firefighters — five of them to fire Battalion Chief — and Emergency Medical Service members on Aug. 13 during a ceremony at the Fire Academy on Randall's Island.

Ann M. Fitton was promoted to EMS Division Chief. The new fire Battalion Chiefs are Robert P. Endall, William M. Fitchett, Patrick J. Murphy, Paul J. Conlon, and Cornelius J. Cronin.

Jonathan P. Pistilli and Mitchell I. Berkowitz were promoted to EMS Deputy Chief.

Fire Captain Promotees

The new Fire Captains are Larry M. Spalter, Glenn W. Fitchett, Jeffrey S. DiPietro, Christopher M. Carangi, Thomas J. Spade, James B. Duggan, Gerard G. Liotta, John F. Kershis, James J. Urkonis, and Kenneth J. Donohue.

Thomas Basmagy was promoted to Supervising Fire Marshal.

The new Fire Lieutenants are Michael D. Bernstein, Smajl S. Rugova, Christopher E. McKlusky, Bruce J. DiPietro, Kevin B. Murphy, John Johnson, Edward J. McNulty, Michael D. Steo, Kevin F. Halliday, Douglas M. Egan, Gerard M. Cox, John M. Thompson, Kristoffer McArdle, Michael Paul, and Douglas Mitchell.

Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano said during the ceremony: "All of you have taken a big step today in helping the FDNY through any challenge it may face."
