Arrest FDNY Inspector For Having Unlicensed Gun At Headquarters A Fire Department Inspector was charged last week with bringing a loaded, unlicensed handgun to the department's Brooklyn headquarters. Department of Investigation officials searched Inspector Adrian Best July 25 after he entered the FDNY's main building at MetroTech, and found a loaded nine-millimeter pistol and a set of handcuffs. He was arrested at the scene. Mr. Best, a civilian employee, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. If convicted on all counts, he could serve up to 16 years in prison. He was also charged with an administrative violation of Possession of Handcuffs, Thumbcuffs or Leg Irons, which could be worth another 10 days of jail time. DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn said in a statement: "The charges against this defendant are serious, but the immediate response by investigators averted any potential danger."
