Sanman Fined $7,300 For Using Agency Car At Second Job

A Sanitation Worker was fined July 23 by the Conflict of Interests Board for using a city vehicle for the purposes of outside employment.

Craig Lowry, an employee of the Department of Sanitation since 2000, used a department vehicle in November at his second job as a private security supervisor during his normal tour of duty.

Mr. Lowry was fined $7,307, the equivalent of 30 days' pay.

"He further acknowledges that his conduct violated the City of New York's Conflicts of Interest Law, which prohibits a public servant from using city time and city resources to pursue private activities," the board said in a statement.

City workers who need clarification in the Conflicts of Interest Law can call the board at 212-442-1400.
