City Health Commissioner Thomas R. Frieden (left) and his state counterpart, Dr. Richard F. Daines, rolled up their sleeves and gave blood July 11 to draw public attention to the need for more donors statewide. They did it at the New York Blood Center on East 67th St., where supplies have dropped below the five-day safety level, and the American Red Cross has reported shortages upstate.
