138 Uniformed Promotions In NYPD, 67 to Detective; 62 Civilian Upgrades

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly named one Assistant Chief, three Inspectors, five Deputy Inspectors, 13 Captains and 33 Lieutenants among 138 uniformed upgrades - including 16 Sergeants and 67 Detectives - in ceremonies held at 1 Police Plaza June 27. Mr. Kelly also promoted 62 civilian employees to various titles.

The new Assistant Chief is Stephen R. Paragallo. The new Inspectors are Brian J. Burke, Frank A. Vega and Gin Y. Yee.

A 35-Year Vet

Mr. Paragallo joined the transit police department in 1973, initially serving on patrol in the 71st Precinct. He is currently the Executive Officer of Patrol Bureau Manhattan South.

Mr. Burke joined the department in 1993, starting on patrol in the Midtown North Precinct. He is currently assigned to the Office of the Police Commissioner.

Inspector Vega joined the department in 1991, when he was assigned to the 107th Precinct, and is currently the Commanding Officer of the 71st Precinct.

Inspector Yee joined the force in 1981 starting on patrol in the 7th Precinct. He is currently the Commanding Officer of the 7th Precinct.

The new Deputy Inspectors are: Timothy J. Beaudette, John P. Durkin, Robert M. Hanson, Kenneth C. Lehr and William P. Monteleone.

New Captains

The new Captains are: Kevin J. Burke, Luis A. Despaigne, Gerard V. Dowling, Thomas J. Gleeson, Steven L. Griffith, Scott Henry, Theodore Lauterborn, Raymond Martinez, Paul C. Mauro, Nicholas A. Muglia, Andrew P. Natiw, Stephen J. Pisano, and Joseph B. Veneziano.
