MCU Sponsors Police vs. Fire Sports Series

The Municipal Credit Union has renewed its sponsorship of a Civil Service Sports Series starting with the annual hockey game between teams from the Police and Fire Departments earlier this month.

KAM WONG: Supporting `finest' and `bravest'.
In addition to that game, where MCU officials presented a $10,000 check to the captains of the two teams for the Police and Fire Widows and Children's Benefit Fund, the series consists of the Fun City Bowl between the two departments' football teams June 1 at Hofstra University and the NYPD/FDNY baseball game Aug. 8 at Keyspan Park in Coney Island. An MCU statement noted that it is possible that other games will be added to the series, which it began sponsoring last year.

A Presence at Coliseum

In addition to the financial donation, MCU staffers were at Nassau Coliseum for the hockey game offering applications and giveaways to members of the credit union and their families, as well as civil servants who might consider enrolling. MCU has more than 315,000 members, and its assets exceed $1.3 billion.

"MCU will always be there to support our municipal workers the way they support our city every day," the organization's president and chief executive officer, Kam Wong, said in a statement.
