Residency Hitches

To the Editor:

Although I am a member of District Council 37, Local 371, I am really not in favor of a relaxed residency rule. I firmly believe that if Lillian Roberts wants us to be able to move to these areas, she needs to negotiate a better pay increase for us.

She does not relate the extra time required to get to our jobs, nor the increase in carfare, etc., that it is going to cost us if we move to any of the six state counties outside the city where we could live under the change.

Where are we to get the money, if not from our negotiated raises? Her own 3-percent pay increase that she claims she is entitled to amounted to more than most of her members' yearly salary, yet she does not want them to have a voice in who their leadership at DC 37 is.

How dare she? I have followed all of her parrots in echoing her words, but she is making sure that she takes care of them as well.

She once may have been a good leader of the working class, but she has become just like the rest that have gone before her - a poor excuse ...

Just my thoughts.
