EMT Arrested For Sex Abuse

An Emergency Medical Technician was arrested for sexually abusing a female patient, the Department of Investigation announced Feb. 28.

ROSE GILL HEARN: A betrayal of trust.

Terrance Hardy is accused of twice fondling the patient last December in the back of an ambulance while taking her to a hospital in The Bronx.

Mr. Hardy was charged with three counts of Harassment in the Second Degree, a criminal violation, and two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. He faces up to three months in prison if convicted.

Mr. Hardy has been an EMT in the FDNY since 2000.

"The charges in this case reflect reprehensible conduct," DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn said in a statement. "As an EMT, this individual was supposed to provide care for his patient. Instead, DOI's investigation showed he betrayed his authority as well as the trust his patient and the city placed in him."
