Fire Test a Joke

To the Editor:

Chief Del Coward misses the point of Chief Mannix's letter. The current entrance exam was a joke and there is no longer a competitive physical exam. The reduction in standards of the civil service entrance exam has and will continue to negatively impact the FDNY.

Steve Cassidy had the right solution to increase minority representation. Recruit from the military and provide military points. Restore the physical exam back to a competitive test. Recruit heavily in minority school districts. To continue the charade that is the current exam is unfair and unsafe.
