Reverse FDNY Bias What a great letter from Deputy Chief Paul Mannix. He wrote of the reverse discrimination by the Vulcan Society, which complains that the entrance exams are unfair to blacks and women. Why not have these poor souls hired without any tests? I remember during my time on the job when black Fire Lieutenants were given an extra five points on the Captain promotion examination. Forget the white Lieutenants who studied night and day but were never promoted due to the five-point advantage that blacks were given. Vulcan Society, have you no shame? FRANCIS T. McLOUGHLIN, Deputy Chief (Retired) FDNY |
