Give FDNY Dead Their Due

To the Editor:

Your Oct. 24 editorial really points out how Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta needs to shape up and get on board with the FDNY unions and re-evaluate his mind-set with regard to granting line-of-duty death status to the firefighters who have already died and will continue to die from the murderous attack on 9/11.

Commissioner Scoppetta should try to be along the lines of Commissioner Ray Kelly. Now there is a Commissioner who is a real advocate for his department.

Commissioner Scoppetta, come out for behind your desk at Metro-Tech and grant these firefighters who have died and will continue to die their respected place on the FDNY memorial wall of honor.
