By DAVID SIMS

District Council 37 Retirees' Association President Stuart Leibowitz was re-elected unanimously to his other post as chairman of the New York City Alliance for Retired Americans Oct. 22, representing the city's AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.

STUART LEIBOWITZ: Continues as retiree advocate. STUART LEIBOWITZ: Continues as retiree advocate. Mr. Leibowitz, who has served as chairman since March 2002, was elected to his third three-year term, which ends in 2011. The Alliance represents nearly 400,000 retirees in the state, including both public employees and private community-based groups.

"We're going to further our activities being advocates for [retiree] issues," said Mr. Leibowitz in a phone interview. "We are particularly involved in the current political campaign because we feel that the privatization of Social Security and the privatization of Medicare and the threats to our income security, the attack on pensions and benefits, are so grave."
