Stocker New Chair of Board at HHC

Mayor Bloomberg Sept. 25 announced that Dr. Michael Stocker would become the new Chair of the Board of Directors for the Health and Hospitals Corporation, replacing Charlynn Goins.

"His extensive background and experience as a health-care executive, health-policy advisor and family practice physician will help ensure that HHC's hospitals and health centers continue to deliver high-quality, affordable healthcare for years to come," the Mayor said during a ribbon-cutting event Jacobi Medical Center Ambulatory Care Pavilion in The Bronx.

Dr. Stocker is a physician who had also served as an insurance executive at Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he was the president and CEO, and also as president of Cigna Health Plans.

He also sits on the boards of the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health and the United Hospital Fund. Dr. Stocker stepped into his post Oct. 1.
