Drogan Steps Down, Sullivan Steps Up At Lieutenant Union
Lieutenants Benevolent Association President Thomas Drogan resigned Sept. 30 for health reason after serving the union for 17 years.
THOMAS DROGAN: Steps down after 17 years. "On April 21, I had a heart attack, causing damage requiring a stent being placed in one of my arteries," Mr. Drogan stated in a letter to union members. "I have completed a four-month cardio rehabilitation program and, over time, I hope to be 100 percent. While I was out sick and recuperating, I realized that I would not be able to give 100 percent to the LBA, and after 35 years on the job, 22 of those years as a Lieutenant and 17 as a board member, I decided to retire."
Mr. Drogan asked First Vice President Thomas R. Sullivan to serve out the rest of his term as president as outlined in the bylaws of the union.
"Tom has served in key police leadership assignments and with his prior union experience and knowledge, in every facet of our organization, I anticipate a smooth transition in leadership," Mr. Drogan stated.
