NFFE Backs Obama In Presidential Race

By ARI PAUL

The 100,000-member National Federation of Federal Employees has joined the expanding ranks of unions endorsing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.

NFFE President Richard N. Brown said in a statement, "There is simply too much at stake in this election for Federal workers to stay on the sidelines. In the face of a rapidly eroding economy and a Republican candidate with a professed lack of support for Federal employees, we are ready and eager to fight for positive change in the White House."

'He Respects Civil Servants'

He added, "Senator Obama has demonstrated, in both his words and deeds, a profound respect for civil servants and the vital role they play in making our government work for America every day. We offer our undivided and enthusiastic support, and will do whatever it takes to make sure that Barack Obama is the next President of this great nation."

Numerous other Federal worker unions have endorsed Senator Obama, included the National Treasurer Employees union.
