Decorated EMT Dies After Off-Duty Stabbing

An Emergency Medical Technician who during his four years on the job received frequent honors for meritorious work was fatally stabbed outside his girlfriend's apartment Sept. 14, and police were said to be seeking the woman's ex-boyfriend.

JASON RUIZ EMT Jason Ruiz, who earlier this summer rescued a woman who fell onto subway tracks, was stabbed after answering the door of his girlfriend's Sunset Park, Brooklyn apartment. He was 30 years old.

At press time, funeral details for Mr. Ruiz had not been released.
