GOP Shows Its Colors

To the Editor:

Recently the extreme right, including its new cheerleader with sharp spurs, Sarah Palin, has mocked Barack Obama's credentials as a community organizer. Sean Hannity giggled on the "Fox thin air," and said he still didn't know what a community organizer does. Isn't it more important to worry that Sarah Palin has recently said that she needs someone to explain what a Vice President does?

Of course, the political right would have no respect for community organizers, civil rights leaders or grass roots political reformers — they never really believed "Jim Crow" was that bad or that damaging to black citizens. They have little interest in alleviating poverty in our nation. They are not willing to pay the price to save the lives of our soldiers in harm's way or to save the lives of the Iraqis caught in the middle of our proactive war. Oil is far more important to them. Establishing an "American Empire," as ridiculous as it sounds, is more important to the far right.

To Palin, Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others on the right, sincere community organizers are suckers who don't buy into their philosophy of greed. To them, Barrack Obama is a sucker.
