164 Uniformed Promotions By NYPD; 2 Inspectors; 76 Detective, 44 Lieutenants

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly Aug. 29 promoted 44 Lieutenants, 39 Sergeants and 76 Detectives along with numerous civilian employees.

John D. Lavelle, who has been with the department since 1982, was promoted to Inspector. The Commanding Officer of the 115th Precinct has served in seven police precincts as well as units like Patrol Borough Brooklyn South.

Commander of SIU Ascends

Edward A. Thompson was also promoted to Inspector last week. The Commanding Officer of the Internal Affairs Bureau's Special Investigations Unit joined the department in 1986. He rose through the ranks serving in four police precincts and other units like Manhattan North Task Force.

Three Captains were promoted to Deputy Inspector: Thomas J. Connolly, William L. Dempsey and John J. Sprague.

The Lieutenant Commander Detective Squad promotees are Maria E. Codd-Perez, Paul Corr, Robert G. Hoyt and Horace I. Norville.
