There He Goes Again

To the Editor:

Weekly Chief contributor Michael Gorman is at it again (Aug. 29 letter). Apparently he has just now come to the great realization that we have a presidential race between a black man and a white man.

Gorman claims that many of the "overpaid mouthpieces," as he calls them, when they speak of Obama are all guilty of using, as he puts it, camouflaged race-talk. It is interesting that Mr. Gorman offered not a single piece of evidence to support his newfound theory.

Or is it Mr. Gorman's belief that any criticism of Mr. Obama must be race-based? Or is it that Mr. Gorman is concerned that his candidate's numbers in the polls have been falling, and having nothing intelligent to say about this he wants to blame it on race?

The only people who I have heard play the race card thus far in this campaign are the Obama supporters. Stop already with this nonsense. Let's not race-bait or use race as an excuse. Race should not be the reason to vote or not vote for either candidate, and while I believe that this will happen, I feel strongly that the majority of people will look at the candidates their positions, their experience and whom they trust to lead this great nation of ours for at least the next four years.

To support my theory, I suggest that Mr. Gorman review the results of the Democratic primary. Or is it his contention that only Republicans are capable of being racist? Stop fanning the flames, Gorman, and get real.
