To the Editor: Once again a letter to the editor from a TWU Local 100 Stations Division member, Paul Piazza (Aug. 15 issue) brings hope that one day Local 100 will regain its character and true democracy. Piazza's letter, "TWU's Strange Priorities," states the true state of affairs in Local 100. More ... To the Editor: Hopefully the Transit Authority and the City of New York view the recommendation for removing seats in subway cars as being the ridiculous suggestion that it is. The citizens of New York, adjoining areas, and the thousands of tourists who use the transportation system are not cattle. More ... To the Editor: Last Aug. 18, following the Deutsche Bank fire where two Firefighters were killed, we saw pictures of a dismantled standpipe in a toxin-bloated building, with stairwells removed, exits sealed and black smoke filling every crevice. More ... To the Editor: Whatever happened to the presumption of innocence? Ellen Bitkower, in her attack on Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch and Police Officer Patrick Pogan (Aug. 22 letter), completely ignores and would seem to deny police officers the fundamental right to a presumption of innocence. More ... To the Editor: All we hear from many of the overpaid mouthpieces on the right is that Barack Obama is an elitist; he's out of touch with blue-collar workers; he's arrogant; he's overconfident; he's not a real American; and other camouflaged race-talk.
