Bronx Community Gets Grant to Expand Its Technology Programs Bronx Community College has been awarded a $2.75-million, five-year grant to expand and accelerate the equipping of classrooms with enhanced technology. According to Dr. Howard Wach, a History Professor at the school who secured the grant, the money will be used in three ways to upgrade the digital literacy skills of both students and faculty. The technology upgrades will be integrated into courses and programs throughout the college. Bronx Community will expand its Instructional Technology Tutor program training students to tutor their peers and serve as technology assistants to faculty. And 60 classrooms and laboratories at the University Ave. campus will be equipped to deliver technology-enhanced courses. In a separate development, the school's Center for Sustainable Energy is expected to play a prime role in expanding the use of solar power in New York City under a bill just signed by Governor Paterson that approves city tax credits for those who install solar panels on homes and businesses. |
