      To the Editor: This is in response to the letter from Mitch Feder entitled "Unwarranted Guild Attack" in the July 25 edition of The Chief. I'll dispense with replying to Brother Feder's red-baiting attack on me in his letter. I am honored by such an attack.

The Commissioner crows excitedly: "I am pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Baker as Chief of Staff in the Commissioner's Office, effective Monday, July 28, 2008.

      To the Editor: You never can trust the Bush administration to do anything they say they will. Now the Pentagon has extended the tours of 2,200 Marines in Afghanistan after promising for months that they would come home on time. Now the Pentagon says they will come home in November instead of October.

      To the Editor: This is a letter I should have written many years ago. Throughout my NYPD career, people have confused me with Michael Gorman, the regular contributor to this and other publications. We are not related.
