Former City Council Member Stanley Michels, seated, had the promenade at the Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park named in his honor July 24 by Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe 'in recognition of his years of dedicated public service and steadfast support for our parks.' Mr. Michels represented the upper Manhattan district in which the park is located.
