30 In FDNY Advance in Rank

The Fire Department promoted 30 uniformed members March 26, including two to the rank of Deputy Assistant Chief during a ceremony at the Fire Academy on Randall's Island.

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta told the promotees that they had all "earned the right to be called leaders in this department."

The new Deputy Assistant Chiefs are Edward J. Baggott and John Sudnik. John Koch is now a Battalion Chief.

The new Lieutenants are Jonathan D. Templeton, James P. Conroy, John J. Hillery, Joseph D. Walz, Robert P. Daly, Thomas J. Breslin, Robert O. Stanton Jr., Peter W. Blaich, Derek Nelli, Dennis J. Martin, James Murray, Aidan G. Dennis, George P. Hopkins, John P. Hopkins and Joseph L. Pansini.

The new Fire Marshals are John F. Kavanagh, Anthony P. Torquato, Gerard M. Linehan, Robert Santandrea, Kevin B. Kelly, Thomas M. Heghmann, John R. Orlando, Charles S. Guttman, Ronald F. Darcy Jr., David V. Vitiello, Aisha Ricca and Nicholas F. Sasso.
