Ms. Charles received 1,431 votes in the mail ballot election for a new three-year term. Former Hospital Assistant Division Director Harry Norbett got 419 votes and Jacoby Hospital employee Stanley Morgan received 333.
"I'm ecstatic for my local," said Ms. Charles. "We started this journey in 2002, and the members have given us the opportunity to continue."
Ballots were sent out to about 9,000 of the local's 10,000 members who were eligible to vote.
"I think my members are satisfied with the job we're doing," said Ms. Charles "When we took office, we came in with a clear-cut agenda to restore democracy and accountability and to educate our members as to the process of the union."
Ms. Charles's entire slate of DC 37 and Central Labor Council delegates was also elected.
