THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. Bush a Real Leader
Regarding the Feb. 1 letter "Obama and Reagan," I am perplexed at some of the comments by Michael J. Gorman. He states we have a jackass in the White House and calls President Bush other unwarranted negative names, while praising Presidents Clinton and Carter. We should all thank God we have had George W. Bush in the White House for the past seven years. He has kept this country strong and on the offensive against people and nations that are trying to destroy America. The past seven years have been one of the most trying times in our history to be President of the United States because of Sept. 11, which we can thank Bill Clinton for. Mr. Gorman also states that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were more in touch with real people and their problems than President Bush. The only people I can recall Bill Clinton being in touch with were Monica Lewinsky, Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and a slew of others he had in his stable. Not to mention another woman who filed a sexual harassment suit against him for fondling her breasts, and another who accused him of rape. Clinton was also responsible for drastically cutting our national intelligence agencies. He also slashed our military by closing naval bases here and abroad, which resulted in disastrous consequences for our nation. All of which had to be built up once again when we elected a real leader. I guess Clinton didn't realize that peace is maintained through strength, not vulnerability. And let's not forget the Whitewater scandal, the Mark Rich pardon, Travelgate, the Vince Foster mystery, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, and the bombing of the U.S. Cole - a very impressive record. I am glad he was in touch with the people. Now that's what I call a "jackass." As for Jimmy Carter (jackass number two) it is a toss-up between him and Clinton for the worst President this country ever had. His legacy: our nation's worst economy, the oil crisis, and his failure to free more than 50 Americans who were held hostage in Iran, for over a year. Talk about an empty suit. I don't know what people he was in touch with, but I think we all would have been better off if he stayed in Georgia growing his peanuts. PASQUALE TESI, FDNY (Ret.) |
