Correction

A story in the July 6 edition erroneously stated that Department of Education Commissioner of Special Investigations Richard J. Condon concluded that Teacher Philip Nobile lied when he accused an Assistant Principal and Principal at Cobble Hill High School of American Studies of playing roles in a cheating scandal.

Mr. Condon raised questions about Mr. Nobile's credibility by stating in his report on the matter that the Teacher claimed to remember only 10 telephone conversations he had with School Investigator Louis Scarcella "when, in reality, there were hundreds of calls between Nobile and Scarcella." He also found that "no witness provided credible evidence to support the accusations" of cheating that were brought by Mr. Nobile.

At no point, however, did Mr. Condon assert that Mr. Nobile had lied.
