2008 Holiday Schedule For City Workers

Below is a schedule of the paid holidays that most city workers will receive in 2008.

The schedule does not apply to prevailing-wage employees under contract with the city. They are advised to contact the City Comptroller's Office to find out their paid days off.

Members of the uniformed forces - excluding Sanitation Workers - do not receive Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday as a paid holiday. Lincoln's Birthday, Feb. 12, is a floating holiday; employees who wish to take off Feb. 12 must notify their supervisors in writing.

New Year's Day - Tuesday, Jan. 1
Martin Luther King's Birthday - Monday, Jan. 21
Lincoln's Birthday - Tuesday, Feb. 12
Washington's Birthday - Monday, Feb. 18
Memorial Day - Monday, May 26
Independence Day - Friday, July 4
Labor Day - Monday, Sept. 1
Columbus Day - Monday, Oct. 13
Election Day - Tuesday, Nov. 4
Veteran's Day - Tuesday, Nov. 11
Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, Nov. 27
Christmas Day - Thursday, Dec. 25.
