THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. SEAL THE BORDERS Seal the Borders To the Editor: The letter by NYC Central Labor Council delegate Mike Gimbel in the Dec. 7 edition of The Chief is typical of an ill-advised and politically correct union official who lets his left-wing radical beliefs blind him from defending American union workers from the illegal alien invasion. Mr. Gimbel seems to think that if the illegals were unionized, everyone would be better off. With a wide-open border and an endless supply of cheap labor, his newly organized invaders would be replaced tomorrow by more scabs looking to under-cut the now-unionized illegals. If Mike wasn't so worried about being popular at the next liberal cocktail party, he would be down on the border with the Minutemen. His agenda has led to whole industries such as the meatpacking industry having well-paying union jobs go to invaders who work for half-price. While the corrupt Mexican Government laughs at us and deports its labor problem, union members are on the unemployment line. When a real union man named Thomas Cunningham (Nov. 23 letter) points out the damage illegals do to tax-paying union members, he gets called a bigot by Delegate Gimbel. Yes, if you can't win the argument with facts, then pull the race card. If 9/11 wasn't a wake-up call to seal the border, I don't know what is. Maybe Mike Gimbel forgot that most of the 9/11 terrorists were here illegally and that many of those killed on that day were union members. What will it take for the union leaders to wake up! Let's seal the border, build the fence and start enforcing our laws. Let the people in who filled out the paperwork and waited in line. Union jobs for legal Americans!
