To the Editor: I have been following the situation with my friend and very strong advocate for union democracy at District Council 37 Local 372, Tony Ferina, and I must say the behavior of President Veronica Montgomery-Costa and her election committee, which has been in place for the past six years, does not surprise me one bit. I got to know her about eight years ago when I was supporting the reformers at DC 37, and I still have a CD which she copied for me that included hundreds of carefully scanned news articles about labor issues. To the Editor: The letter by NYC Central Labor Council delegate Mike Gimbel in the Dec. 7 edition of The Chief is typical of an ill-advised and politically correct union official who lets his left-wing radical beliefs blind him from defending American union workers from the illegal alien invasion. Every year, throughout our country, there are thousands of these illegal criminals arrested for, and convicted of, bank robbery, murder, rape and other serious and minor crimes. More ... First of all, if employers did not have at their disposal this massive wave of illegal immigrants, they would be forced to do what they have historically done when they experienced difficulties in attracting workers.
