Honor Heroic Mom

To the Editor:

As a retired city Correction Captain, I would like to strongly recommend that Capt. Rene Chong be awarded the honor of having a building named after her. Personally, I'd like to see the Correction Academy named after her so as new recruits ask who she was, they will be told her amazing story.

Captain Chong must be remembered for her inspiring and selfless courage and tremendous love for her two beloved boys - so much so that she raced into a burning building without a moment's hesitation, disregarding her own safety to valiantly attempt to rescue them. She is a shining example of the absolute best this city has to offer, and I'm proud to have known and worked with her.

May she and her sons rest in eternal peace in the loving arms of God.
