TREKKING TO MEMPHIS:

The Chief-Leader/Michel Friang

Uniformed Sanitationmen's Association President Harry Nespoli, center, is headed to Memphis, Tenn. on Nov. 28 to commemorate the death of the Rev. Martin Luther King, who had been there on April 4, 1968 to support the city's striking Sanitation Workers when he was assassinated. The USA recently became the city's first uniformed union to negotiate Dr. King's birthday as a paid holiday for its members. The other members of the contingent are, from left, union consultant Allen Brawer, Business Agents Ronald Prattis and St. Joseph Middleton, and union historian Kevin Rice.
