Rudy's Feminine Side To the Editor: Presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani's mid-speech cell phone calls from his wife, Judith, are obvious attempts to woo the female vote from Hillary Clinton. First, Rudy said that if elected president, his wife would be a trusted adviser and even a member of his cabinet. Now he's taking phone calls in the middle of critically important campaign speeches - he's done it twice, the last time while talking to the National Rifle Association. One need not be a student of Sigmund Freud or Machiavelli to know that Giuliani is attempting to send two messages to women voters: 1. I value the opinions of women as well as their intelligence, and my wife, Judith, will be a very important part of my presidency. 2. Notwithstanding what many considered my crude and heartless behavior toward my ex-wife, Donna Hanover, I'm a nice guy with great respect for, and sensitivity toward, women. MICHAEL J. GORMAN | |||||
