LAID TO REST:

The body of Local 100 member Renee Elaine English was carried into the
Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan last week following her death July 27 at age 53. Ms. English, who grew up in the South Bronx, was the first black woman plumber to work in the transit system. She was elected shop steward, then became the first woman to hold the title of structural vice chair in the Maintenance of Way division and later was appointed to be acting Structural Chair.
