CSEA Endorses Senator Clinton For President

By REUVEN BLAU

The state's largest public-employee union July 25 endorsed Hillary Clinton's bid for President, citing her "tireless advocacy" for workers' rights.

DANNY DONOHUE: In Clinton's corner.
The Civil Service Employees Association became the first public-sector union to formally back Ms. Clinton. "Hillary Clinton has the overwhelming support of the vast majority of CSEA members, and we are proud to join with her in her historic campaign," said CSEA President Danny Donohue in a statement. "CSEA and its 265,000 members will work hard to help elect her and it will be a better day for the American people."

The union announced the endorsement at the Desmond Hotel in the Albany suburb of Colonie. Mr. Donohue noted that CSEA was the first major union in America to support Bill Clinton's fledgling presidential campaign in December of 1991.

Earlier this year, the New York State Teachers United Teachers and the State AFL-CIO passed resolutions urging their respective internationals to consider her strongly when they make their endorsements.
