53 Detective, 4 Inspector Upgrades

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly named an Inspector and three Deputy Inspectors among 87 uniformed upgrades - including 53 Detectives - in a ceremony held at 1 Police Plaza May 25.

Mr. Kelly also promoted 26 civilian employees to various titles, including a new Director of Employment Section.

The new Inspector, Donna G. Jones, joined the department in 1982, where she served on patrol in the 79th Precinct. In 1992, she earned a law degree from New York Law School. She most recently served as the commanding officer of the Performance Analysis Section.

Kevin G. Collins, Peter A. DeBlasio, and Vincent A. Guerriera were promoted to Deputy Inspector.

The new Captains are: Jon E. Bloch, Matthew D. Hanrahan, Rodney Harrison, Joseph J. Kearney, Albert G. Lindquist, Leighton A. Myrie, Henry S. Sautner, Jeffrey D. Schiff, Gregory A. Sheehan, Louis F. Soviero, and Rosendo P. Velez.

The new Lieutenant Commander Detectives are: Marlene S. Beaman, Mark A. DeFazio, Joseph M. Dunn, Edward Gonzalez, Gemma M. Masterson, and Dennis J. McCreight.

New Employment Chief

Paula Berlinerman was designated Director of the Employment Section. She began her career with the department in 1973 as a Police Administrative Aide. She most recently served as an Administrative Staff Analyst MI and was designated the Assistant Deputy Director of the employment unit.

As director, she will be responsible for civilian hiring and promotions; employee benefits, retirements, and the Workers' Compensation Program; the employee authorization process; maintaining the classification and position allocation system; the creation of new civilian titles; the uniform and civilian reinstatement process; and managerial recruitment.

The four new Associate Traffic Enforcement Agent Level Is are: Chevonne N. Brice, Anthony J. Padula, Emilia Roman, and Reno Sodhi.
