Giuliani's No Hero of 9/11

To the Editor:

On behalf of 9/11 Firefighters and Families for Truth, and all those who support us, I would like to profoundly thank Richard Steier and The Chief for the excellently written, historically accurate and exceptionally informative column: "Rudy Running and Ducking" (June 8 issue).

As parents whose FDNY son suffered a needless and brutal death on 9/11 for which the Giuliani administration shares a significant responsibility, we know that Rudy is no hero of 9/11. Thanks to Mr. Steier for providing the true history of that day and for giving the families of the victims a voice - one that Rudy and his minions cannot squelch.

During the nearly six years since 9/11, The Chief has consistently and excellently reported the issues and monitored the efforts of the 9/11 family members and rescue workers to expose the failures of the system - when other publications downplayed or ignored us.

Your article can truly serve as a primer to educate those people inside and outside of New York who are under the gross misconception that Rudy Giuliani is some type of "hero" of 9/11. That is a lie, and Rudy is a liar - along with his incompetent and unqualified rat pack of Commissioners whose gross incompetence plunged this city into chaos when we should have been prepared to deal with the terrorist threat that lurked in the shadows since the first WTC attack in 1993. Please continue to report the truth - someone needs to represent the interests of the uniformed services of this city.
