Revenue Officer Jobs With IRS Open for Filing
Filing is open until June 21. The starting salary ranges from $35,752 to $46,478 a year. To qualify, candidates must be U.S. citizens and have a bachelor's degree with a 3.0 or higher overall grade-point-average or a 3.5 or higher average in work-related courses. Work experience can also be substituted for the education requirement. Qualifying Work Examples of acceptable experience are: reviewing individual/business financial condition; evaluating assets, equity and credit; collecting delinquent payments, establishing or operating a small business and/or administering a budget; counseling individuals on tax filing and paying obligations; or dealing with various legal instruments. Revenue Officers are trained in both tax law and collection techniques necessary for delinquent tax returns. Job responsibilities include conducting research, interviews, investigations and analysis of financial information for assigned cases, often at the taxpayer's home or business. During the first year, all new hires will receive approximately three weeks of orientation, 10 weeks of classroom training and 40 weeks of on-the-job instruction. Appointees may be required to travel for both the orientation and classroom training.
