CORRECTION A story in the Jan. 5 edition about a 1995 bill that granted transit workers the right to retire at age 55 and provided continued medical coverage until age 62 erroneously stated that they were eligible for Medicare at 62. The portion of the bill pertaining to medical coverage was meant to sustain benefits through the previous age needed to qualify for a full pension under Tier 4, which had been 62. Medicare eligibility, except in special circumstances, does not begin until age 65. The new Transport Workers' Union Local 100 contract continues retiree medical coverage between 55 and 65. | |||||
